Board Elections

Help run the network you belong to

The Learning Network is run by its members, for its members. Each November, members elect the directors who lead it. Here is what the board does, who can take part, and how to stand or vote.

Nominations for the 2027 Learning Network Board are now open!

Members can complete the nomination form now. Nominations close Friday 23 October.

The Role

What the board actually does

The board is a team of volunteer directors who keep the network running: the events, the mentoring scheme, the industry partnerships, the podcast, the annual LN Connect conference and the day to day decisions behind them. Directors are elected by members, serve two years, and hold portfolios such as events, mentoring, marketing, finance, technology, member experience and partnerships.

You never lead alone. The board works as a single team and covers for each other as demand shifts through the year.

Good to know

Questions members ask

Why is the board elected?

It is in our constitution. The Learning Network is run by the members, for the members, so the members choose who leads it.

Twelve directors in total. Terms are staggered, so usually around six seats are up for election each year. A director can be on the board for 2 years before standing for election again upto a total of 4 years.

No. Every board role is voluntary and expenses are not reimbursed. By standing, you agree to give some of your own time each month to help run the network.

You must meet the Companies House requirements for a director of a company in England and Wales, and agree to the Learning Network code of conduct, which includes protecting company and member data. It is worth reading the IoD guidance on directors’ duties before you stand.

Every paid member and Industry Partner representative receives five votes, cast across the candidates who are standing. The candidates with the most votes win. Simple as that.

This is your network

Whether you stand for the board or vote for it, elections are how members shape what the Learning Network does next.
