Community Guidelines
Welcome to the Learning Network! Whether you’re joining us for in-person events, online gatherings, our online community discussions or interacting with our social media content, these guidelines are designed to ensure that everyone has a positive and productive experience.
1. Be Respectful, Inclusive, and Be Mindful of Language
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We value diverse perspectives, and encourage healthy, constructive debates while avoiding personal attacks. Please strive to create a space where all members feel welcome and heard. Critique ideas, not individuals.
Use clear and respectful language, avoiding jargon or slang that could be exclusionary. In our online community, we encourage members to be mindful of tone, especially in written communication, as it’s easy to misinterpret intent in text-based interactions.
2. Zero Tolerance for Harassment
We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, harmful behaviour based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or any other protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. If you encounter or witness any inappropriate behaviour, please report it to a Board Director immediately or contact us on our website.
3. Respect Event Guidelines, Privacy and Boundaries
For in-person events, please follow any venue-specific rules and guidelines. In both online and in-person spaces, please respect others’ privacy, including personal contact details or sensitive information. Be mindful of others’ comfort, safety, and well-being.
If you have accessibility requirements, dietary restrictions, or other concerns, please let us know so we can do our best to accommodate you.
4. No Sales or Self-Promotion
We believe in the power of shared knowledge. Feel free to share relevant resources, articles, tools, and ideas that can help others in their professional development. When sharing, please credit authors and sources appropriately. The Learning Network is a no-sales community, no self-promotion of services and products (including discounts) is permitted. Recurring offenders will be removed from the community.
5. Maintain Professionalism
While our community is informal, it’s also a professional space. Please communicate with integrity, uphold confidentiality, and avoid sharing irrelevant or off-topic content.
Respect others’ time and attention. Direct messages should be used for personal conversations, while channel discussions should be focused on topics relevant to L&D.
This is a space for learning, growth, and connection. Stay curious and open-minded, and remember: we’re all here to support one another in our professional journeys.
How to Report Issues:
If you feel that someone is violating these guidelines, please reach out to a Board Director or send a private message to contactus@thelearning-network.org. We are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for everyone, and we will address concerns promptly and confidentially. Further information on our investigation process can be found on our website.
Thank you for being a part of the Learning Network. Let’s make this a space where we can all thrive together!
