eLN Learning Technologies Award Showcase Webinar Series: Make Real

This event has passed.

Onboarding is an important process for companies and learners alike. But it often comes with its own unique set of challenges and Make Real’s project one was no different.Having been awarded funding from CITB, Make Real teamed up with Bam Nuttall to improve their highways onboarding experience.
At the start of this project, they had a number of challenges to overcome:

Induction sessions could start as early as 7am, in temporary cabins with limited resources.
Some of the learners may have already completed a similar session on a different site or as part of a different construction project.
The sessions had already undergone some improvements, but opportunities for learner participation were still limited.
Many learners have English as a second language and comprehension was a challenge.
Jobs in construction are often overlooked by students in favour of engineering roles.
Join us for this webinar as we talk through our solution and how we overcame these challenges with this game-based solution. We used a suite of network tablets to encourage discussion and knowledge sharing between the learners and allowed the facilitator to better monitor and support individual progress. By doing this, we created an onboarding session that increased learner engagement and raised the number of first-time passing scores, while decreasing the overall cost and time spent on inductions.
