“The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause”
Mark Twain
With all the work that goes into the planning of a well designed and facilitated learning experience, I wonder how many of us proactively plan pauses?
As learning professionals, we can get caught up in processes, activities and techniques and we risk forgetting to include the hugely impactful pause.
This interactive discussion-based session is an opportunity to reflect on your own learning/ facilitation approach, explore a different way of building reflective practice and pausing into your work. This can be useful for you and your development, and additionally give space to others for sense-making, reflection, idea creation and group cohesion.
If you’re interested in the power of pausing, working to slow down a little in your work, finding time to reflect and be reflective – then this session will be a good place to start.
This session will explore:
- why we should pause more often;
- the possibilities within the pause;
- ways we can pause well for ourselves and when supporting others; and
- practical ideas and tips to try in your own practice.
