This policy, together with our terms and conditions, set out the basis on which the Learning Network uses and keeps safe the information provided by members and visitors to our services.
What is the Learning Network?
We are the eLearning Network Community Interest Company (Company registered in England and Wales number: 06969913) trading as The Learning Network (LN), connecting the learning and development community.
We are run by a Board of Directors which is elected by our Members. Our registered address is 303 Goring Rd, Worthing, BN12 4NX. Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as a ‘Data Controller’ for the data you share with us.

Website Visitors and Members
Visitors to the LN website may choose to subscribe to receive the LN newsletter, or interact with the LN through our non-member events, and other non-member services.
Additionally, visitors may choose to become a member of the LN and benefit from additional services available only to members. There are three types of LN membership:
- Individual Member pays an annual membership fee to access a comprehensive range of member benefits.
- Team Membership pays an annual membership fee for a team of individuals (up to 5 people) with the same benefits as individual members.
- Industry Partner pays an annual membership fee to join as a company, giving access to a range of partner benefits (but not member data).
What information do we collect about Website Visitors and Members?
Identifying information collected from website visitors is stored in Google Analytics and used to personalise your repeat visits to our website. See the ‘Cookies’ section below for more information.
When you choose to become a LN member, we collect personally identifying information about you consisting of your full name, email address, personal websites, postal address, organisation and job title. Optionally, you may choose to share additional demographic and personal information. We also optionally store your payment details for recurring membership payments in our payment processing system.
As a non-member, if you choose to use our services, such as booking on a non-member event, we collect your full name, email address, and other information necessary for the delivery of that service.
Where we store information about Website Visitors and Members
The data that we collect from you is stored securely on our UK-based servers.
Your personal information may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the United Kingdom which is compliant with GDPR when using certain services. We take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. We take reasonable technical and operational security measures to protect the information that we hold about you.
How We Use, Transfer And Manage information about Website Visitors and Members
The LN stores and processes information under GDPR when planning, providing and improving the services we provide. Detailed descriptions of the individual services and their privacy implications are listed below.
Learning Network Website
We use Google Analytics to analyse the use of this website. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users’ computers. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website. Google stores this information. As a member, you will receive essential operational emails from our website which enable you to login, reset your password, and renew your membership unless you choose to close your account.
If you choose not to renew your status as an Individual Member, Team Member, or Industry Partner, your account will be removed and your personal information erased from the LN website within 12 months of the date of expiry.
You will continue to be subscribed to our newsletter, even if your membership expires, until you choose to unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of each email that we send.
Newsletter and Email
The primary way that we communicate with website visitors and members is via our email newsletter. To send you emails, we transfer your full name and email address to MailChimp, which acts as a data processor under GDPR. If you are not currently an Individual Member, Team Member, or Industry Partner, we may send you information via email about LN events and services which may be of interest to you, only with your consent.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter and emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email. As a member, you will still receive essential operational emails from our website which enable you to login, reset your password, and renew your membership, unless you choose to close your account.
Events
When you register for LN events as a member or non-member, you will be asked for additional information. This information is only used for the purpose of managing your attendance at the event and is not stored for other purposes. You will receive emails connected with your attendance, including operational information about the event.
For webinars and hybrid events, your email address will be passed to Zoom, for the purpose of delivering the webinar, after which your details are not stored. The Zoom privacy policy is here: https://zoom.us/privacy
Mentoring
To provide our member mentoring scheme, it is necessary to collect additional personal information such as your career goals, career aspirations, and personal information from mentors who may not be Members or Industry Partners.
We use Guider to manage our mentoring scheme. The Guider privacy policy is here: https://guider-ai.com/privacy-policy/
On the basis of your consent to participate in the Mentoring scheme and share the information we need, this data is held securely by the LN for a maximum period of 12 months from the completion of a mentoring relationship.
Slack and Social Communications
Members of the LN have access to members-only communication tools, including Slack.
When you join the LN, your name and email address are transferred to Slack for the purpose of enabling communication between members on a wide range of topics.

Social Media
We routinely interact with visitors and members on social media. This currently includes: YouTube, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
Use of these social media sites are governed by their individual privacy policies.
