#wireln Week In Review eLearning Network 11 – 17 April 2016

Here’s a roundup of some interesting items from the past week that you may have missed. If I’ve missed something that you’ve seen then let us all know in the comments. Any contributions for next week’s #WIRELN very welcome too – contact me at editor@elearningnetwork.org

Learning Skills Group webinars

The Learning Skills Group held 2 webinars covering ‘Scaffolded social learning’ hosted by Julian Stodd (SeaSalt Learning) and another entitled ‘Gamification: A silver bullet for e-learning?’ – delivered by Mind Click’s Dr. Richard Hyde.

#gameweek

Continuing the gamification theme, Sponge UK hosted a #gameweek – bringing together learning designers, academics, thought leaders and L&D professionals. The aim was to create a week long exploration of game-based learning and share ideas.

Learning Technologies Summer Forum

There’s still time to register for this year’s free Learning Technologies Summer Forum – although places are limited and going fast. The Summer Forum is designed to ‘further develop the key learning themes from February’s Learning Technologies exhibition and conference, and provide a chance to explore the most popular topics from Learning Technologies 2016’.

Awards

Registrations are now open for the newly renamed ‘Learning Technologies Awards’ (previously the eLearning Awards).

And if you’re looking for advice on entering awards then we still have a few places left in our upcoming event.

“What does excellence look like?” provides ‘a fantastic opportunity to meet with gold and silver award winning e-learning producers. The Learning Technologies Awards – formerly the E-Learning Awards, which are judged by the eLN, represent the best the industry has to offer. And at this event, you can see for yourself what it takes to be best in class.

The people behind the prizes will be there to showcase their work and tell their own backstories. And of course, they will be more than happy to pass on their experiences for you to apply in your workplace …’
