Call for Industry Mentors!

Have you been in the industry for a while? Are you always checking out latest trends and tech advances? Then this could be an ideal opportunity to share what you love with someone new. Since last year the number of ELN members signing up to our mentoring scheme has seen a massive growth spurt and now we need your help to support them! Being a mentor offers huge personal benefits and embodies the ELN mission of inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and strengthening the learning technology community.

Here are some top reasons to get involved:

  • It helps you strengthen your interpersonal skills; helping you to become a better manager, employee and team member. Our mentees come from all walks of life, so being a mentor will help you develop your communication skills as you work with someone from a different background to your own.
  • It will refresh your own knowledge and perspectives; by working with someone less experienced or from a different background you’ll learn to look at things from a new perspective
  • It increases your self-believe and teaches you new things; your mentee may have experience in a different field that would be relevant to your job, so mentoring allows you to learn from each other. Coaching others also helps you to reinforce your confidence in the wealth of knowledge that you have built up over the years.
  • It allows you to give something back to the community; when you started out was there someone there to guide you? If not, don’t you wish there was? Our industry moves and evolves so quickly that having someone to guide you in the right direction is invaluable to newcomers. Mentoring newcomers and young professionals not only helps your industry to thrive, but also gives you that warm fuzzy feeling of helping someone else.

What are you waiting for?
