Monkey business: how evolution impacts learning with Rob Hubbard, Founder of eLN Industry Partner LAS

November 11, 2021 @ 12:00 - 13:00 GMT

In evolutionary terms, we’ve only been walking upright for a heartbeat. With our freakishly large brains, obsession with burning our food with fire and irrational, destructive behaviour; we truly are the strangest of all primates. Whilst we may feel highly evolved because we have Netflix, spaceships and cake, in fact much of our behaviour is the result of the same evolutionary instincts as our primate cousins. If we can recognise and work with these evolutionary instincts, rather than against them, the better we can help our audiences learn. In this interactive session we’ll get up-close and personal with our monkey selves, identify some of our evolutionary behaviours and consider their implications on how we help people to learn.
