One of our members, Gemma Wells, who is a Media Designer at Talk Talk, has written this short piece of overcoming your fear on camera:
With the birth of Digital learning and all things video comes the fear of being caught on camera! Well it does if you are me and I am sure I am not the only one! I believe I sound like a 12 year old child when recorded so whenever someone asks me to be part of a video or to add a voice over to an e learn, I always apologise and make a very swift exit! (Roadrunner style – meep meep!)
If I have been caught on a sort of good day I may agree to it but it takes twice as long to record as I stutter, um and ah my way through it. I insist on many (and I mean many!) retakes until I am sort of happy with it or me and the person recording have exhausted every angle and just make do!
Well seeing as we all need to embrace change as a good thing and step out of our comfort zones more often (trust me it is an adrenaline buzz to do this) I have been researching ways to overcome this fear and just do it! I thought I would share this with my fellow scaredy cats out there so we can all be part of the video generation and get involved!
